Wagyu and Angus are both prized for quality, but they deliver very different eating experiences. Here's a quick comparison to help you choose.
Marbling and texture
Wagyu — especially A5 — has the highest, finest marbling of any beef, giving an ultra-rich, buttery texture. Angus has fine, even marbling too, but far less than Wagyu, so it's leaner and has more traditional 'chew'.
Flavour
Wagyu is intensely rich and almost sweet from the fat. Angus has a cleaner, beefier flavour that many people prefer for a everyday-sized steak.
Price and best use
Wagyu is a luxury — best as a small, special-occasion portion. Angus is your premium everyday beef: brilliant for a full-sized steak, a roast or the family barbecue. Many people keep both for different occasions, and we're happy to help you choose at the counter.
